Color choices can have a dramatic impact on the visibility of your sign. If you want the text to be easily seen against the background, you need to have a high level of contrast. The choices on the left provide the most contrast. The colors on the top right have moderate contrast, and the bottom left section illustrates low contrast. Red and blue, or red and green, seem to “sizzle” when used together. The end result makes it difficult for the eye to focus. However, these colors can be used together effectively when a lighter colored outline or “contour” is applied to the text.
