If you have ever lived in a fish bowl or had windows in your office you soon realize that they are one in the same.
Its not that you don’t want to talk to people or be accessible, but when you are front and center all the time, it is easier to interrupt, which makes it harder to stay and get back to your tasks.
Many companies have window films like 3M’s fasara (which we carry) or just regular etched vinyl (emulates sandblasted glass). But what if you want to get a bit more creative?
Its easy to try new things, but it helps first if you know what you want as an end product. In this recent example, we started from scratch in all areas.
Step 1- Artwork. Our designer, Tevis, worked up a couple of designs to see if the client was feeling them and while they were beautiful, they were not what she was thinking. Through conversation they decided to go in a different direction.
Step 2- Sample- Because this was so custom, we included a sample print, where we mounted the prints to clear acrylic and tried different combinations of materials to achieve the effect. To be honest, non of the ways we thought we were going to make it worked. They were either to transparent to no transparent enough. Dave came up with the idea of using our matte laminate to provide a thin layer that obscures light but lets enough in to keep the office bright. SOLD!
Step 3- Prepare graphics. This should not take very long, in this case we were printing on etchmark then an reverse layer on clear with the matte laminate. It took a few tries to get true flaw free prints.
Step 4 – Installation. These windows took about 3 hours to install, Not long to transform the entry way and the office space.
This office is a property management company in Grande Prairie, but this product is ideal for all offices, or professional office with the need for privacy but want to let the light through.
